Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or repeating patterns you can’t seem to break, therapy can help provide clarity, tools, and deeper healing.

2. What can I expect in the first session?
The first session focuses on understanding your story, current concerns, goals, and determining the best therapeutic approach for you.

3. How long does therapy take?
Length varies. Some clients come for short-term, focused work; others engage in longer-term trauma or attachment healing.

4. How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, then adjust frequency as progress stabilizes.

EMDR

5. What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps process unresolved trauma by activating the brain’s natural healing mechanisms.

6. Is EMDR safe?
Yes, when properly paced and clinically indicated. Preparation and stabilization are essential before trauma processing begins.

7. Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?
No. EMDR does not require retelling every detail of traumatic experiences.

8. What is complex PTSD (CPTSD)?
CPTSD often develops from chronic relational trauma and may include emotional dysregulation, shame, identity confusion, and relationship difficulties.

Trauma

15. Do you work with religious trauma or church hurt?
Yes. I specialize in helping individuals recovering from spiritual abuse, authoritarian religious systems, or loss of faith identity.

16. Can therapy help with narcissistic abuse recovery?
Yes. Therapy can address gaslighting, trauma bonding, identity erosion, and rebuilding self-trust.

17. I’m high-functioning but feel stuck. Can therapy still help?
Absolutely. Many high-achieving women experience anxiety, burnout, emotional numbness, or chronic overthinking beneath the surface.

Practical Questions

18. Do you accept insurance?
Yes. I accept most major insurance, including Medicaid. I also provide a Superbill for out-of-network benefits. I accept FSA/HSA cards and most major credit cards.

19. What are your fees?
Fees range from $135-200 per session. Fees are subject to change at any time and may vary based on treatment needs or provider adjustments. The practice is not responsible for changes in pricing made by pharmacies, medical providers, or third-party services.

20. What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be charged the full session fee. Exceptions may be made for emergencies at the discretion of the provider.

21. Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes. Virtual therapy is available to clients located in Ohio and Kansas. Sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, allowing you to receive care from the comfort and privacy of your home.
